Love and Care in Times of Chaos

There are moments when the world feels uncertain—when old systems begin to crack and familiar answers no longer seem enough. In times like these, it is easy to retreat into fear or become overwhelmed by the challenges around us. Yet these are also the moments that invite us to imagine differently.
Power to the Radical Imagination: Love and Care in Times of Chaos emerged from that invitation.
Over the course of an entire lunar cycle, we hosted eight online learning circles, bringing together 16 speakers from 14 countries and 124 participants from around the world. Educators, artists, healers, community organizers, activists, and dreamers gathered to explore one central question:
How do we cultivate love, care, and radical imagination in times of uncertainty?
Rather than creating another online conference, we chose to create a Yatra—a shared learning journey where every conversation became a stop along the path. Together we explored what becomes possible when learning is rooted in curiosity, relationship, and collective wisdom.
A Journey Beyond the Screen

Although separated by continents and time zones, participants created a space that felt remarkably intimate.
Stories flowed across cultures. Artists spoke alongside educators. Community organizers exchanged ideas with healers and young changemakers. Each session invited us to step outside familiar narratives and imagine alternatives grounded in justice, compassion, and community.
One of our deepest discoveries was that radical imagination is not fantasy—it is a practice.
It is the courage to question systems that no longer serve life, while daring to imagine new ways of living together. It asks us to move beyond what appears possible today and begin building the futures we long for.
Learning with the Whole Body

Transformation wasn't limited to conversation.
Through storytelling, reflective dialogue, moments of silence, and embodied practices, we remembered that learning is not only intellectual—it is deeply human.
The somatic practices invited participants to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves before reaching outward to others. These simple moments shifted the quality of our conversations, reminding us that presence is as important as knowledge.
Across every gathering, one message became increasingly clear:
Love and care are not abstract values—they are daily practices.
In times of chaos, care becomes an act of resistance.
It is found in listening without rushing to respond.
It is found in creating space for different perspectives.
It is found in choosing kindness, even when uncertainty makes it difficult.
Weaving a Global Learning Community

The journey extended far beyond the live sessions.
Together we built a shared digital home through Yatra.Global, coordinated across continents through Basecamp, launched social media spaces, and designed countless invitations, posters, emails, and creative materials that helped weave together a truly global learning community.
Like any meaningful journey, this one also encountered rough terrain.
We underestimated the time, care, and coordination required to bring something of this scale to life. There were moments of confusion, unfinished tasks, and collective exhaustion.
Looking back, however, those challenges became some of our greatest teachers.
They reminded us that collaboration isn't built through efficiency alone. It grows through trust, honest conversations, shared responsibility, and the willingness to learn together—even when things feel messy.
The Journey Continues
Although the final session has ended, the journey continues.
The Yatra left us with a simple but powerful realization: even in times of chaos, we retain the capacity to imagine different futures.
Radical imagination is not an escape from reality. It is a commitment to engage with reality through hope, creativity, and collective action.
Our hope is that this experience inspires many more self-organized learning journeys where people gather to question, imagine, learn, and care together.
Whether through community initiatives, personal practices, or everyday encounters, each of us carries the ability to nurture a culture rooted in compassion, courage, and possibility.
What becomes possible when we choose love over fear, care over control, and imagination over certainty?
