When the world came to a standstill in 2020, learning found a new path.

Vimukt Shiksha Yatra 5.0 became our first fully virtual learning journey, bringing together over 60 participants from across India and beyond for seven days of conversations, reflection, music, storytelling, and collective inquiry. Even though we met through screens, the sense of connection, curiosity, and community felt remarkably real.

This Yatra explored what it truly means to unlearn—to question inherited beliefs about education, success, childhood, work, relationships, and ourselves. Together, we engaged with unschooling families, alternative learning initiatives, educators, artists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who are courageously reimagining how we learn and live.

The journey included sessions with NavGurukul, Swaraj University, Swaraj Jail University, The Creativity Adda, The Dharavi Dream Project, Lemon School of Entrepreneurship, Swadharma, and conversations on the Sacred Pedagogies of Travel. Through daily reflection circles and shared experiences, participants discovered that unlearning is not about forgetting—it is about making space for new ways of seeing the world.

This report captures the highlights, reflections, participant voices, and learnings from a week that proved meaningful learning can happen across any distance when people come together with openness, trust, and a willingness to question.

Check out the report below to explore the complete journey, its conversations, and the insights that emerged along the way.
